Dealing with Absences

There's a student in your math class who was supposed to make measurements throughout the session, and plot the growth of some plants throughout the session. Sadly, one of your students missed a significant number of classes, and they're not sure how to earn credit in the class.

If the class was supposed to measure the growth of eight plants every day the class was in session during April, how many total measurements were supposed to be made? How many additional plants should this student measure so they are working with the same amount of data as other students?
