Today I begin school at Western Governor’s University (WGU). I’m pursuing a B.A. in Mathematics for school grades 5 through 12. From what I gathered, this is one of the most rigorous academic programs at WGU. Truth is, I haven’t studied math for nearly 20 years. I don’t even consider myself naturally inclined to do well in math, so why do it?
I have a great appreciation for math and science.
Mathematics is said to be the universal language for humankind.
But, it is much more than that.
Its the language of the physical universe and probably what will one day in future connect us to other intelligent beings light years away from our corner of the universe.
I see learning mathematics as an honorable endeavor, “so is harakiri…” – says my wife as she walks away.
